it’s been a while since i’ve shared some of my recent favorite buys with all of you, so why not share some now?! i’d love to know if you’ve used any of these or now plan to give them a try!
alright. don’t judge, but your girl is already getting hot flashes and this thing has so come in handy! it’s small enough to keep in my purse and the fact that it’s also a power bank is sooo convenient.
if you like a good thriller book to read, this is it. it’s perfect for a quick read and totally not what you’d expect.
i’m a sucker for a good set of press-on nails and these have been one of my go-tos lately. they’re classy, yet durable, and not over the top.
and lastly, who doesn’t love a good body product and one that boosts energy at that?! i stumbled across this line a few months ago and now have them scattered around home and even work. it smells so good and leaves you feeling energized!
32 years old today, and there has been quite a few things that I’ve learned through the years. I’ve made good choices, stupid choices, and learned that sometimes the only explanation for your actions is, “it seemed like a good idea at the time.” But through it all, I’ve learned.
And firsthand, from my own experience these are some of things that I’ve learned:
Seafood is still disgusting.
Your children pay attention to EVERYTHING that you do. Literally EVERYTHING. Don’t say anything in front of a 3-year old you don’t want repeated.
Soul mates do exist; believe me. I’m one of the lucky ones that found mine.
Having a big family is such a blessing. A benefit too; more kids to pay for a fancier nursing home when you’re older.
Life is much better with a golden retriever.
Work at a place where you actually like your boss and co-workers. Life is way too short to deal with Karens.
No matter how old you get, shots still suck.
Record your life. Have those memories to look back and smile at later.
Friends change and that’s okay. Sometimes the unlikely friends are the best friends.
Grey hairs come a whole lot sooner than you expect.
“One more episode” actually means four more episodes.
Hanger, it’s real.
Kitchens are made for dancing.
I will never be as happy as my two dogs.
McDonald’s Coke taste better than any other coke.
The person who invented Grocery Pick-up is a genius and all we mothers appreciate you.
At this age, you can pull a muscle in your sleep.
Costco is a very glorious place.
Airfryers are the bee’s knees.
Have date nights weekly with your significant other; make that time for each other.
Don’t get drunk and order food on Doordash; you will probably end up with $70+ of Chipotle on your front doorstep. Oops.
Spend as much time as you can with your grandparents. That time is so valuable.
Even if it scares you, still do it. Try those new opportunities.
It is possible to wrongly cook macaroni & cheese…sorry kids.
Sometimes those college degrees aren’t worth it.
Chips and salsa are the best snack.
Dad jokes are actually funny.
Never turn down the opportunity to take a good nap.
Caffeine is your friend.
You don’t need to buy every single houseplant you see.
i hope you all had a wonderful easter whether you were celebrating at home relaxing, around the table with family, or alone. we were so lucky this year with amazing weather here in illinois; it always makes the day a whole lot more enjoyable when the sun is shining.
this year was a little different for us as we only had the two littles with us while the older girls were spending the holiday with their dad’s family. we missed them bunches and can’t wait to celebrate with them when they come home.
we started our morning searching around the house for easter baskets. it only took a few trips around each room for the kids to finally find them and i think they were more than happy with the surprises the bunny left them…new jammies, shoes, swimsuits, toys, and candy. they sure got spoiled!
the four of us made sure to sneak in some quick family photos in our matching outfits before leaving the house. i still can’t get over how adorable the kids looked with their hair all done and in spring colors.
aubrey and i got our matching dresses from amazon; you can find them here. i was pleasantly surprised with the quality of them and how comfortable they were. us girls sure loved that they had pockets too!
we went to family’s for a big breakfast and it was perfect. the food was delicious, the mimosas were tasty, and being able to spend that time with family was my favorite.
the kid’s got to do an easter egg hunt around the house after breakfast and finished with buckets full of candy and big smiles on their faces.
the rest of the day we just spent time together and enjoyed the nice weather with a cook out and a family walk. we had a great easter and sure hope you did too!
happy friday! the weekend is finally here, spring is right around the corner, and the sun is shining! i thought i’d start the weekend off right by sharing my recent favorite purchases from amazon with all of you. who doesn’t love a good haul?!
john surprised me with airpod pros for part of my valentine’s day gift and i wanted a cute case to go with them to prevent them from getting scratches. i found this one for such a steal for under $7!
we needed a new kitchen mat for near our sink and found these on amazon. such a great price for a pack of 2! we used the other one in front of our stove and the length is perfect. my favorite is the vibrant color that goes so well with our kitchen color scheme.
this gel nail light. i’ve enjoyed doing my nails lately, and with three little girls this thing comes in handy. it’s under $12 right now and is amazing. my nails are completely dry within a few minutes and lasts for easily 2 weeks. if you’re looking for a great gel nail light, this is it!
happy friday, beauties! it’s been a VERY long time since i’ve done a shop spotlight but i couldn’t resist sharing my love for a new boutique i stumbled upon…abigail’s boutique!
lacey owns the cutest online boutique located in fort worth, texas. her boutique offers trendy, affordable style that gets delivered directly to your doorstep. her shop is always offering new items and i can’t get enough of the variety…from jewelry to fashionable workout gear, there is always something i’m adding to my cart!
this wristlet has been my go-to lately, especially while running quick errands to the store. it’s so much more convenient that my big ‘ole bag and i love the fun tassel. unfortunately, i don’t believe it is still available in her shop anymore but you can find other cute matching checkered accessories including this cute wallet and matching backpack!
want to talk about cozy tops? i’m loving this buffalo plaid top for everyday wear, especially paired with some black leggings. you can find similar ones like this one that used to be in her shop here.
this was my very first item from lacey’s shop and is immediately what got me hooked! the julie leopard sweater coat is long and so cozy! i like to pair it with a pair of boots and it keeps me warm all day. it’s on sale right now so run before they’re completely gone!
the holiday season is officially over and it’s the time of the year where you start to get back in to the routine of things. where the weather is dreary and your missing all the joy of the holidays; the excitement starts to dwindle. but rather than focusing all that, id rather focus on the things that bring me joy.
which is a perfect time that i thought it may be fun to do another one of my renditions of “10 things i love sunday”, so here are some things i’ve been loving lately:
our kids are really enjoying this fun find we got for them off of amazon. what kid doesn’t enjoy building a good fort?
my planner for the near year. yes, i know i probably should have held off on getting and setting up a new planner for the new year after a lack of one for last year, but i couldn’t pass on that pink color.
i’ve been obsessing over one of my favorite purchases from amazon. i love that it’s a mix of a romper and a maxi dress, lined with all the lace detailing. toss on a hat and it makes a perfect boho vibe.
this phone case and the best part is that it’s only a couple bucks. i bought it on a whim because i was bored with my old case. i wasn’t sure i’d like the square design, but surprisingly, i love it!
lockdown; a word we’re all hearing a lot lately. five weeks in and i think we’re slowly becoming used to this new “normal”. everyday is different; some days i have a hard time wanting to turn off netflix and get off of the couch, other days i’m beyond productive and feel like i can take on the world.
this whole thing has certainly taught me to find joy in the little things. so what joys have i been finding?
no make up / no bra
with no where to go or no one to see wearing makeup and a bra has been a thing of the past. i still find myself occasionally throwing on some mascara and lipstick just to feel more human, but it feels so good to not spend so much of my time in the morning getting ready.
working from home
i didn’t think i would adjust so well to working from home, but its been glorious! my favorite part has been just being able to roll out of bed three minutes before work starts and tossing open my laptop. again, really enjoying the aspect of not having to spend so much time in the morning to get ready.
working on things that were put off on the to-do list
i’m certainly not complaining about all the extra time we’re getting to knock things off on our to-do list that we’ve been wanting to get done. we’re really doing our best to take advantage of this weird period of time.
netflix in general, but holy crap. we started ozark and it’s been soooo good. what shows have you been binging during quarantine?
walmart grocery pickup
it’s a lifesaver during this time. seriously, if you haven’t taken advantage of walmart grocery pick-up, you’re missing out. the contact is so minimal which is perfect for quarantine and much more convenient then dealing with the chaos of going in to the store.
with no where to run off to and no events to attend, we have become a more relaxed family. we have more time to enjoy just being together. quarantining has forced me to slow down and appreciate the moments; the memories that we’re all making together.
truthfully, i don’t think lockdown could have come at a better time. the weather is becoming warmer and we’re seeing a lot more sunshine. i’m super thankful for that; it means we don’t all have to always be cooped up inside. we’ve been taking advantage of it with lots of cookouts, lunch picnics, and family walks.
all the money were saving…gas, no trips to the craft store, etc
i swear our gas tank has lasted nearly a month. with no where to go and no where to spend money, i’m really liking watching my bank account increase. but don’t let me fool you…i’m severely missing my tj maxx and homegood hauls.
more time to be creative
i’m also finding a lot more time to be creative, which i thoroughly enjoy. i’ve done some painting, some writing, and even planting. lockdown has reminded me of how much i enjoy these hobbies of mine.
what have you been finding joy in during lockdown?
with being encouraged to stay home with everything that has been going on in our world lately, it’s easy to spend hours upon hours on our phones and computers. but that can only be entertaining for so long.
today, i brainstormed a few ideas to get you through the boredom and hopefully keep you from going a little stir-crazy.
go for a drive. a perfect way to get out of the house, but still keep away from others. right now is the perfect time: traffic is light and gas is cheap! even bring the family with and make a fun adventure out if it with a classic game of i-spy.
make something. no better time than now to make something you’ve wanted to, whether that be a painting, a video, or a construction project. you’ve got this!
relax and pamper yourself. even get the kids included if you wanted to. do some face masks, give yourself a pedicure, take a bubble bath. treat yourself!
take an online course. learn something new that you’ve always wanted to or freshen up and improve your skills.
workout. a lot of gyms are closing, but don’t let that stop you from being active. go for a run or walk, inside or out, or try out a new online workout class. youtube is even a great resource for a lot of free online workout routines, or create your own!
cook. have that new recipe that you’ve been wanting to try? now’s the time! or scroll the internet and find something that looks yummy! even give baking a try!
read a book. i have countless books that i’ve had sitting on my shelf waiting to be read, but the time just hasn’t been there. pick up a good read, relax, and get lost in another world – that’s corona free!
need some more ideas that are’t so fun? use this gift of extra time at home to knock things off your to-do list that you’ve been putting off or haven’t had time for:
deep clean the house
clean out the fridge and reorganize the pantry
do some yard work
clean out old files on your computer
rearrange the furniture in your house
purge your closet and donate what you no longer wear
most importantly…relax, s l o w d o w n, and STAY HEALTHY!
in all seriousness how it it almost december? this truly seems like the quickest year ever, but i feel like i say that every year around this time. i’m so excited for what’s coming up though…the holidays are some of my favorite moments of the year.
i wanted to share with all of you a few of my favorites from this month; a few new, a few old:
this stuff is phenomenal. i can tell your right now, i will never purchase a different type of primer, ever. it’s a super affordable dupe of the tatcha primer and so comparable. it goes on light, leaves my skin feeling soft, and doesn’t leave any creases throughout the day.
i think i’ve shopped at burlington maybe twice throughout my entire life, but recently all four of our kiddos needed snow gear, and with needing so much i looked around for good deals. i priced around for snow pants, snow boots, and mittens and burlington by far had the best deals.
i feel like burlington is one of those stores that are easily forgotten, but i’d highly recommend them for winter gear bargains!
doordash is a food delivery service that i recently tried out. the very best part…it delivers chipotle. i’m a sucker for some chipotle and if i have the opportunity to get it without having to leave my house…you betcha i’m all over it.
use this link to save $15 off on your orders through the doordash service!
everyone that knows me, knows that i LOVE houseplants. i have quite the variety within our home…cacti, aloe, monstera, snakeplant, etc. i love everything about them; the aesthetic that they bring, the way they make our home feel, and the added benefit of them cleaning the air. it’s a great way to bring the outside in.
if you don’t have any, you should pick some up. i guarantee you’ll love having that added touch within your home.
