August was full of more birthdays, mini getaways, and football games. Here’s a peek at our month and the life I’ve thankful for.
32 years old today, and there has been quite a few things that I’ve learned through the years. I’ve made good choices, stupid choices, and learned that sometimes the only explanation for your actions is, “it seemed like a good idea at the time.” But through it all, I’ve learned.
And firsthand, from my own experience these are some of things that I’ve learned:
Seafood is still disgusting.
Your children pay attention to EVERYTHING that you do. Literally EVERYTHING. Don’t say anything in front of a 3-year old you don’t want repeated.
Soul mates do exist; believe me. I’m one of the lucky ones that found mine.
Having a big family is such a blessing. A benefit too; more kids to pay for a fancier nursing home when you’re older.
Life is much better with a golden retriever.
Work at a place where you actually like your boss and co-workers. Life is way too short to deal with Karens.
No matter how old you get, shots still suck.
Record your life. Have those memories to look back and smile at later.
Friends change and that’s okay. Sometimes the unlikely friends are the best friends.
Grey hairs come a whole lot sooner than you expect.
“One more episode” actually means four more episodes.
Hanger, it’s real.
Kitchens are made for dancing.
I will never be as happy as my two dogs.
McDonald’s Coke taste better than any other coke.
The person who invented Grocery Pick-up is a genius and all we mothers appreciate you.
At this age, you can pull a muscle in your sleep.
Costco is a very glorious place.
Airfryers are the bee’s knees.
Have date nights weekly with your significant other; make that time for each other.
Don’t get drunk and order food on Doordash; you will probably end up with $70+ of Chipotle on your front doorstep. Oops.
Spend as much time as you can with your grandparents. That time is so valuable.
Even if it scares you, still do it. Try those new opportunities.
It is possible to wrongly cook macaroni & cheese…sorry kids.
Sometimes those college degrees aren’t worth it.
Chips and salsa are the best snack.
Dad jokes are actually funny.
Never turn down the opportunity to take a good nap.
Caffeine is your friend.
You don’t need to buy every single houseplant you see.
Getting forehead kisses will never get old.
You can never say “I love you” too much.
hello everyone; it’s been a bit. hoping your pandemic summer is going as well as it can and that you’re all staying safe and healthy!
welp, i thought it may be fun to do my rendition of 10 things i love sunday, so here are some things i’ve been loving lately:
1, this book by rachel hollis. i believe this is one of those books that despite your background or where you are in life, you’ll gain something from reading it. i aimed to read a chapter a day and i felt like each chapter left me with some insight and good advice. i’d recommend; it’s a light read and won’t take you long to get through.
2. i’m sure i’ve mentioned these before, but these are a game changer for bath time. our kids LOVE them and sometimes are the only motivation they have to actually take a bath.
3. i’m a sucker for trying new recipes and this one is getting added to our list of repeaters! it’s super tasty, easy to make, and perfect for any get togethers. the kiddos even enjoyed helping me make them.
4. if you have kids, you need this for the hot summer heat. it’s fairly easy to put up and take down and big enough for adults to sit in to. we broke it out this weekend for an adult-only party and probably enjoyed it just as much as the kids.
let me know if you purchase one of my recent favorites; i’d love to know what you think!
this april was certainly different from the last. a whole lot of time with no where to go and no stores to explore. shopping was a lot more limited due to covid-19, but i wanted to still compile a few favorites to share with you for this month; some old and some new.
a book that takes its time.
this book is perfect for those days stuck in quarantine. i stumbled across it on my favorite website of all time…jane.com. if you’re a paper lover and enjoy art, i’d highly recommend this, it would even make for a cute gift for someone.
it’s well-made with little bits and pieces of fun incorporated throughout. it’s full of little things to help you relax and let go, with fun exercises for self-reflect. my favorite part about it is that you don’t have to start from the beginning to understand; but i would recommend reading it once fully through and go back and re-read the areas that interest you most.
bergamot waters candle.
this. smells. SO. good! absolutely my new favorite scent, one even john more than approves of. it smells of a mix between beach air and citrus; it makes our home smell so clean and energized. we’re also a big van of the blue glass it comes in, when lit it sets such a pretty ambiance. we liked it so much that we went and purchased a few more of them as well as the wallflower plug-ins.
yup, i said it. let the old lady status commence. quarantine has given me more time to do things that i used to have a lot more time for, one of those being crocheting.
my mom learned how to do it from her grandma and she taught me. my mom is a dang magician with that crochet hook, me? more a turtle. but i’m hoping with practice, and lots of it, i’ll be a speed demon like her. this month’s (more like a few months if i’m being honest) project is a teal blanket to match our living room.
february has been busy, but a fun month. between holidays and birthdays, this month has been flying by. with the end of another month approaching, i wanted to share with all of you a few of my favorites; a few new, a few old:
love is blind on netflix – so i’m hooked. it’s a series based off of finding love, soley basing their feelings for one another just on communication. i’m a sucker for those cheesy, reality love shows and this one was no exception.
this bag – need i say more? michael kors did it once again…this one is a beauty and my new go-to.
lunch box notes – one of my sweet friends recently gifted me a pack of lunch box notes for our girls, similar to these, and they were a huge hit. i enjoy being able to write them a quick note, throw it in their lunch, and hope they get a smile from it later.
ham and cheese hawaiian sliders – this recipe is a new family favorite. we tried it out for our new year’s party and have had to make it a few times since. it’s super simple to make and so delicious!
shein – shein is an international online clothing store. they focus primarily on women’s clothes and have such an array of styles, so the variety is definitely there. i’ve purchased a few swimsuits from there so far and am quite impressed.
autumn has arrived and october is basically here. spooky season is well upon us.
that means it’s time to get all cozy under some fuzzy blankets and leave the windows open.
but first, let’s take a step back and reflect on what i’ve been loving these past couple of months…
i’ve used groovebook’s app for well over a year now and still have yet to be disappointed by it’s service.
simply put, it’s an app that allows you to choose up to 100 photos a month from your phone and print them in a book. they’re shipped directly to you and for only $3.99 a month.
interested in trying it out? you can find more about it here. you can use my code: GOODWIN5000 for a free book!
one word…genius. a mother must have invented the idea of grocery pickup service; one that was exhausted of dragging their kids though the stores and long lines.
i honestly haven’t stepped into a grocery store to do my bi-weekly grocery haul in months. what’s easier than ordering what you need online throughout the week, driving up to the store when it’s your time for pick-up, and someone loading your car with all your groceries? and for FREE!
magnetic eyeline & eyelashes
i wanted to try them out and see what the hype was all about. i’ve worn them for a few days now and have zero complaints. they stay on all day, they don’t irritate my skin, and they’re super affordable.
ellen tracy lipstick
need some new lipstick that is super pigmented and great for fall. get these!
a set of four for under $10, you can’t beat that!
the day the calendar flipped to september, i was ready to decorate for fall. this season is my absolute favorite…the crisp autumn breeze, cozy sweaters, football; how can you not love it?!
i decided to celebrate the beginning of my favorite season by sharing some of my favorite fall items with you that can all be found on amazon.
this hat has fall written all over it. it’s adjustable and comes in multiple colors. these are one of my favorite fall staples.
a chunky blanket scarf is a fall closet necessity. this one is super affordable and comes in multiple color combinations.
i love fall decor, especially when you can tie in some fun buffalo check patterns. this cute table runner is a must and the best part is it’s under $10!
what’s fall without a cute blanket to snuggle into? this one’s plaid pattern will match all decor and keep you nice and warm.
what are some of your favorite fall items?
crazy to believe that september has almost come and gone already. september is easily my favorite month, and for so many reasons…the summer heat is transitioning into cool, autumn days and finally a reason to wear all my over-sized, comfy clothes.
it was a slightly busier month for me as i spent time with some friends, volunteered with work for the day of caring, and ended the month with a trip down south to visit my grandma for her birthday.
i’ve rounded up a few things that i love from this month to share with you; a few new, a few old:
where have these been all my life? they’re insanely soft and so comfortable! my husband bought me these ones from jane.com in the charcoal gray color and now I want them in every. single. color.
i’ve really enjoyed reading poetry this month, and when looking for new poets, i stumbled across rupi kaur and found her best-selling book. i purchased it on amazon and it was perfect reading for my long road trip to missouri.
i carry my ipad and apple pencil with me everywhere. i wanted something slim to keep my pencil in so it didn’t get damaged being tossed in my bag. i tried this case out from amazon and am in love with it. it’s small, has multiple storage spaces, and is big enough to store my head phones in as well.
i order a lot from jane.com, and i mean a lot. a lot. most recently i’ve been ordering a lot of my wardrobe from there and noticed that a lot of the clothes that i liked were from the same boutique…liam and co. their clothes are all super adorable, comfortable, and very affordable!
i’ve been in such a bad funk lately. it’s so easy to get overwhelmed and down about life, but it’s so important that you remind yourself of the things that keep you going.
i needed to take a step back and do some things that make me happy. i needed some positivity and i thought that i’d share with all of you my list.
happiness is what you choose it to be, and here are just a few of what i find joy in:
simply just getting things out my head an on to paper is such a relief sometimes.
being around friends and family
having good company around always keeps my mind off of other things and i’m always guaranteed a few good laughs.
a perfect time to relax, blast some music, and not think about anything at all.
chicago cubs games
you can never go wrong with friends, beer, and wrigley field.
the sound of rain
especially during naps or in the morning when you don’t have to crawl out of bed.
with a side of tequila.
after i didn’t kill my first one the first few days ow owning it, i had to go buy ALL the houseplants.
getting lost in a good book
june seems like it went by extremely fast. it seems like i was just celebrating my birthday and planning out all the details for our big vacation this month. a lot has happened this month: some of our friends got married, we spent a lot of time on the beach in virginia, and my family road tripped to washington dc.
with all the shuffle and hustle that occurred, i found a few new favorites that i’m looking forward to sharing with you:
filofax pocket domino
i’ve been really enjoing my pocket-sized planner lately, but wanted to get something more girly looking and settled on purchasing a filofax pocket domino. i found it here on amazon and it has become a new must-have for me. its pink (of course), soft, and super affordable.
13 reasons why
during the week nights, my husband and i have a nightly routine. we put the girls to bed around 8:30, make a bowl of popcorn, and then vedge on the couch while watching our shows. we recently started 13 reasons why on netflix and can’t seem to want to turn it off at a decent hour so we’re not exhausted the next morning.
bite beauty lipstick
i stumbled upon bite lipstick when i was sent a box of their products in the mail to test. i was instantly drawn to the amuse bouche lipstick in the shade pepper. the color is very neutral and goes well with just about everything. my favorite thing about the bite beauty lipsticks is how creamy it is and how long the color lasts.
hp sprocket mobile printer
on our long road trip i planned to do a lot of journaling and memory keeping and wanted to pick up a mobile printer before. i did a lot of research of which one had the best reviews and ended up buying the hp sprocket. i didn’t get a chance to try it out before we left , but once we were settled in and were on our way, it was the first thing i drug out. its so easy to use, very quiet, and the quality is well worth the price.
What are some of your recent favorites? I’d love to hear!
Till next time!
