LOVED & LINKED

it’s been a while since i’ve shared some of my recent favorite buys with all of you, so why not share some now?! i’d love to know if you’ve used any of these or now plan to give them a try!

alright. don’t judge, but your girl is already getting hot flashes and this thing has so come in handy! it’s small enough to keep in my purse and the fact that it’s also a power bank is sooo convenient.

if you like a good thriller book to read, this is it. it’s perfect for a quick read and totally not what you’d expect.

i’m a sucker for a good set of press-on nails and these have been one of my go-tos lately. they’re classy, yet durable, and not over the top.

and lastly, who doesn’t love a good body product and one that boosts energy at that?! i stumbled across this line a few months ago and now have them scattered around home and even work. it smells so good and leaves you feeling energized!

AUGUST 2021; OUR MONTH IN VIDEO

August was full of more birthdays, mini getaways, and football games. Here’s a peek at our month and the life I’ve thankful for.

5 things i love monday

hello everyone; it’s been a bit. hoping your pandemic summer is going as well as it can and that you’re all staying safe and healthy!

welp, i thought it may be fun to do my rendition of 10 things i love sunday, so here are some things i’ve been loving lately:

1, this book by rachel hollis. i believe this is one of those books that despite your background or where you are in life, you’ll gain something from reading it. i aimed to read a chapter a day and i felt like each chapter left me with some insight and good advice. i’d recommend; it’s a light read and won’t take you long to get through.

2. i’m sure i’ve mentioned these before, but these are a game changer for bath time. our kids LOVE them and sometimes are the only motivation they have to actually take a bath.

3. i’m a sucker for trying new recipes and this one is getting added to our list of repeaters! it’s super tasty, easy to make, and perfect for any get togethers. the kiddos even enjoyed helping me make them.

4. if you have kids, you need this for the hot summer heat. it’s fairly easy to put up and take down and big enough for adults to sit in to. we broke it out this weekend for an adult-only party and probably enjoyed it just as much as the kids.

let me know if you purchase one of my recent favorites; i’d love to know what you think!

april favorites.

this april was certainly different from the last. a whole lot of time with no where to go and no stores to explore. shopping was a lot more limited due to covid-19, but i wanted to still compile a few favorites to share with you for this month; some old and some new.

a book that takes its time.

this book is perfect for those days stuck in quarantine. i stumbled across it on my favorite website of all time…jane.com. if you’re a paper lover and enjoy art, i’d highly recommend this, it would even make for a cute gift for someone.

it’s well-made with little bits and pieces of fun incorporated throughout. it’s full of little things to help you relax and let go, with fun exercises for self-reflect. my favorite part about it is that you don’t have to start from the beginning to understand; but i would recommend reading it once fully through and go back and re-read the areas that interest you most.

bergamot waters candle.

this. smells. SO. good! absolutely my new favorite scent, one even john more than approves of. it smells of a mix between beach air and citrus; it makes our home smell so clean and energized. we’re also a big van of the blue glass it comes in, when lit it sets such a pretty ambiance. we liked it so much that we went and purchased a few more of them as well as the wallflower plug-ins.

you can get it here from bath and body works!

crocheting.

yup, i said it. let the old lady status commence. quarantine has given me more time to do things that i used to have a lot more time for, one of those being crocheting.

my mom learned how to do it from her grandma and she taught me. my mom is a dang magician with that crochet hook, me? more a turtle. but i’m hoping with practice, and lots of it, i’ll be a speed demon like her. this month’s (more like a few months if i’m being honest) project is a teal blanket to match our living room.

stuck at home and need ideas of what to do?

self-quarantined and bored already?

with being encouraged to stay home with everything that has been going on in our world lately, it’s easy to spend hours upon hours on our phones and computers. but that can only be entertaining for so long.

today, i brainstormed a few ideas to get you through the boredom and hopefully keep you from going a little stir-crazy.

go for a drive. a perfect way to get out of the house, but still keep away from others. right now is the perfect time: traffic is light and gas is cheap! even bring the family with and make a fun adventure out if it with a classic game of i-spy.

make something. no better time than now to make something you’ve wanted to, whether that be a painting, a video, or a construction project. you’ve got this!

relax and pamper yourself. even get the kids included if you wanted to. do some face masks, give yourself a pedicure, take a bubble bath. treat yourself!

take an online course. learn something new that you’ve always wanted to or freshen up and improve your skills.

workout. a lot of gyms are closing, but don’t let that stop you from being active. go for a run or walk, inside or out, or try out a new online workout class. youtube is even a great resource for a lot of free online workout routines, or create your own!

cook. have that new recipe that you’ve been wanting to try? now’s the time! or scroll the internet and find something that looks yummy! even give baking a try!

read a book. i have countless books that i’ve had sitting on my shelf waiting to be read, but the time just hasn’t been there. pick up a good read, relax, and get lost in another world – that’s corona free!

need some more ideas that are’t so fun? use this gift of extra time at home to knock things off your to-do list that you’ve been putting off or haven’t had time for:

  • deep clean the house
  • clean out the fridge and reorganize the pantry
  • do some yard work
  • clean out old files on your computer
  • rearrange the furniture in your house
  • purge your closet and donate what you no longer wear

most importantly…relax, s l o w d o w n, and STAY HEALTHY!

last minute gift ideas for mother’s day.

sometimes it’s so hard to shop for those special women in our lives, and being a mom myself, what i could use more than anything on certain days is just alone time to catch up on some zzz’s or enjoy the peace and quiet. simply just offering her some of that time is honestly better than gifting her any material item sometimes.

but if you’re still wanting to give her something and haven’t done your shopping…

two words: amazon prime. it will become your best friend.

here are some favorites that i have stumbled upon and should help spark some shopping inspiration:

diffuser and essential oils

bath bombs

fresh flowers

kindle e-reader

custom jewelry

weighted blanket

hope this guide gave you some ideas of what to give your mom on her special day. and above all us, make sure you tell that woman you love her.

fall bucket list.

Welcome_Fall_4135db43-e2d8-44f3-8256-cb034d390187_530x@2x

there is something about fall that brings me such a sense of joy; and it’s this time of the year that makes me most thankful that i live in the midwest. there is nothing better than a midwest fall…the crisp, autumn air and apple orchards.

i’m so excited to throw on my leggings and boots, wear my hair down, and bust out ALL the flannels. i love the promise fall brings of over-sized sweaters and cozy blankets, and of course…football!

i wrote out my fall bucket list below, as i try to each time fall comes around; it gives me a gentle reminder to get out there and do the things i want to do.

here’s my bucket list of fall activities that’ll have you enjoying all this season has to offer:

tattly_lila_symons_be_happy_web_design_01_grande_61addf0b-91f4-4fb5-8482-e79c0537198a.jpg

i’ve been in such a bad funk lately. it’s so easy to get overwhelmed and down about life, but it’s so important that you remind yourself of the things that keep you going.

i needed to take a step back and do some things that make me happy. i needed some positivity and i thought that i’d share with all of you my list.

happiness is what you choose it to be, and here are just a few of what i find joy in:

journaling

simply just getting things out my head an on to paper is such a relief sometimes.

being around friends and family

having good company around always keeps my mind off of other things and i’m always guaranteed a few good laughs.

bubble baths

a perfect time to relax, blast some music, and not think about anything at all.

loud music

chicago cubs games

you can never go wrong with friends, beer, and wrigley field.
