september favorites.

autumn has arrived and october is basically here. spooky season is well upon us.

that means it’s time to get all cozy under some fuzzy blankets and leave the windows open.

but first, let’s take a step back and reflect on what i’ve been loving these past couple of months…

groovebook

i’ve used groovebook’s app for well over a year now and still have yet to be disappointed by it’s service.

simply put, it’s an app that allows you to choose up to 100 photos a month from your phone and print them in a book. they’re shipped directly to you and for only $3.99 a month.

interested in trying it out? you can find more about it here. you can use my code: GOODWIN5000 for a free book!

walmart grocery pickup

one word…genius. a mother must have invented the idea of grocery pickup service; one that was exhausted of dragging their kids though the stores and long lines.

i honestly haven’t stepped into a grocery store to do my bi-weekly grocery haul in months. what’s easier than ordering what you need online throughout the week, driving up to the store when it’s your time for pick-up, and someone loading your car with all your groceries? and for FREE!

seriously. do it. and while you’re at it, use my code: http://r.wmt.co/v/Shayla_1 to save $10 your first order.

magnetic eyeline & eyelashes

i wanted to try them out and see what the hype was all about. i’ve worn them for a few days now and have zero complaints. they stay on all day, they don’t irritate my skin, and they’re super affordable.

i found mine here on amazon and love them!

ellen tracy lipstick

need some new lipstick that is super pigmented and great for fall. get these!

a set of four for under $10, you can’t beat that!

fall favorites 2019.

the day the calendar flipped to september, i was ready to decorate for fall. this season is my absolute favorite…the crisp autumn breeze, cozy sweaters, football; how can you not love it?!

i decided to celebrate the beginning of my favorite season by sharing some of my favorite fall items with you that can all be found on amazon.

this hat has fall written all over it. it’s adjustable and comes in multiple colors. these are one of my favorite fall staples.

a chunky blanket scarf is a fall closet necessity. this one is super affordable and comes in multiple color combinations.

you can’t go wrong with fall-scented soaps and this bundle of 5 from bath and body works on amazon is a steal. the marshmallow pumpkin latte scented is one of my girls and i’s favorites.

i love fall decor, especially when you can tie in some fun buffalo check patterns. this cute table runner is a must and the best part is it’s under $10!

what’s fall without a cute blanket to snuggle into? this one’s plaid pattern will match all decor and keep you nice and warm.

what are some of your favorite fall items?

amazon prime day favorites.

amazon prime day starts today…it’s like the black friday of summer.

this year it’s a two day event to shop some of amazon’s favorite products at really great prices. as long as you have an amazon prime account, you’ll be all set to save!

i threw together a quick list of some of my absolute favorite amazon finds that are participating in the amazon prime day deals below.

things go quickly, so word of advice? don’t wait.

i swear by this travel makeup case. it’s light-weight, super durable, and you can’t beat the price.

need some fun earrings? check these out. so many color options to choose from and under $10!

if you need new tennis shoes, i’d highly recommend getting these adidas running shoes. they’re super comfortable, light-weight, and come in so many color/style options.

if you’re in the market for a portable charger, for the price, you can’t go wrong with this one. i buy a lot of charging products from this brand and have had zero complaints.

this might be my favorite purchase ever. if you have kids or even just for yourself, you NEED a wet brush. this is a great deal; two for the price of one.

and i’m thirty!

holy hell. it’s here. i’m officially thirty.

and i think i’m excited. not what i ever thought i would say about turning thirty, the big 3 – 0, a new decade, but it’s here and i’m ready.

this year, as I move into this next decade of life, i’m taking a little bit of a different approach to things. i want to love more; not only my family and friends, but myself too. i want to hold close the little moments that fall into the every day life routine. i want to travel more, have adventure, and see the world, but i also want to come home and celebrate the life that i’ve built there. i want to live fully in every. single. moment without rushing to the next.

but most of all, i want to appreciate thirty and the time that i have lived. it’s so humbling to look back at the life i’ve lived and see all that’s already been written and see how blessed i am. to see how much i’ve grown and learned. to see how i’ve become so strong and ready for the world.

there are some people out there who don’t get the opportunity for one more birthday with a loved one, so instead of hiding and dragging my feet into thirty, i’ve got my arms open and i’m ready.

celebrating us on mother’s day.

raising kids is hard. the thought of raising a child to have confidence, curiosity, knowledge, manners, purpose and empathy sounds both terrifying and exhausting, but i’d like to think i’m doing an okay job at it. like so many moms, i can’t count how many times i have doubted my ability to be successful and to have all the answers.

but kaylei and mahkena, seeing your smiles, your joy, and your big hearts is all the proof i need to know that i’m doing something right.

i’ve realized that mother’s day is not about me at all; it is a day to celebrate us, together.

i owe you girls a thank you for making me a better person, for giving me greater purpose and for showing me what life is all about. i cannot wait to experience all the wonderful things you’ll do in the world, but please… take your time my loves, let’s not rush this beautiful journey.

there’s nothing stronger than a mother’s love, baby girls. i’ll love you forever, to the moon and back.

love, your perfectly imperfect mother

*a huge thank you to my dear friend chelsea from chelsea marie photography for capturing these photos that i’ll forever cherish

last minute gift ideas for mother’s day.

sometimes it’s so hard to shop for those special women in our lives, and being a mom myself, what i could use more than anything on certain days is just alone time to catch up on some zzz’s or enjoy the peace and quiet. simply just offering her some of that time is honestly better than gifting her any material item sometimes.

but if you’re still wanting to give her something and haven’t done your shopping…

two words: amazon prime. it will become your best friend.

here are some favorites that i have stumbled upon and should help spark some shopping inspiration:

diffuser and essential oils

bath bombs

fresh flowers

kindle e-reader

custom jewelry

weighted blanket

hope this guide gave you some ideas of what to give your mom on her special day. and above all us, make sure you tell that woman you love her.

turning 30.

so many people have asked me how i felt as i approached my 30th birthday. and honestly, i didn’t know how to answer. i mean i’d be lying that by just typing out the words i’m turning 30 didn’t freak me out. what am i going to do when i have to say, “hi, im shayla and i’m 30 years old”?

i’ve struggled it with it the closer i got to closing out my 20’s. everyone has an opinion about it, and before really taking the time to sit down and think about it, my opinion was not one i’d like to admit; like i’ve got one foot already in the grave. my parents had me young; i remember them turning 30 and thinking “holy crap! that’s old.” but now, that’s me.

but why do i have to be so negative about it? what is so bad about starting a new decade; a fresh start?

my 20’s were full of so much life; it allowed me to discard the things that i needed to let go of and move forward. hell, i spent a lot of this last year doing just that. my 20’s were exciting, stressful , yet so full of adventure…marriage, expanding our family, graduating college, landing my dream job, divorce, buying a home, and finding myself.

in those years i learned the bounds of my life and exactly where i intended to be, which is the greatest gift my 20’s could have ever given to me.

i see a woman who has grown and changed so significantly. i can see a shift in my confidence, my purpose, my passions. most importantly i see a woman who has learned the importance of patience, kindness, an open heart, and love.

so being in your 30’s does NOT mean you’re old. i wholeheartedly believe that these are about to be the start of the best years of my life. so break out the party hats and tequila; i’m ready for you 30.
