Travel With Us | Virginia Beach, VA

Over 20 hours in the car with two young kids? Were we crazy? Probably. But worth every minute? ABSOLUTELY!

John and I planned a spontaneous 6-day trip while the girls were on vacation with their dad in Florida, with the destination of Virginia Beach, VA in mind. We knew it was going to be quite the road trip with two littles in tow, but were so excited for a week away somewhere warm.

We decided to stop mid-way on the way there to allow the kids to stretch out and enjoy the hotel pool.

We stopped in Pittsburgh, PA the first night. We all enjoyed the warm pool and ordered pizza delivery! We slept in the next morning before heading out for our final destination.

We stayed about 20 minutes outside of Virginia Beach, in Norfolk. We booked the next four nights at the Hilton Norfolk The Main and were blown away with the property! Not only was the hotel stunning, but the views of The Waterside District were breathtaking!

My favorite part of our spontaneous trip was just that; that everything was so spontaneous. We had no real plans and decided on doing things as we went.

We enjoyed lots of Jimmy Johns, and I mean LOTS. There was a JJ within a few minutes walking distance of our room and Aubrey and I enjoyed the quick walk multiple nights while we were there. That girl has such a love for that place!

On our second full day we ventured to Virginia Beach. We spent the morning walking around and exploring the shops. We heard that Chix on the Beach was a great place for lunch on the oceanfront, so we took a break from all of our shopping and grabbed some delicious eats!

We spent the reminder of the day on the beach, soaking up every second. The kids really enjoyed finding shells and taking quick soaks in the cold water.

Of course while she’s still not too embarrassed to match me, Aubrey and I wore the cutest matching swimsuits we ordered here. They have ones for the whole family and you better believe that we’ve already ordered more since we’ve been back.
